GILLIAN'S EXCELLENT GUY
By Sandra Contreras TV Guide Online October 1997

Rod Rowland Gillian Anderson isn't too upset about rumors of an impending marriage to her hunky beau, Rod Rowland.

"Me and Gillian have a good laugh about it," he says. "She calls me up and reads me the Enquirer, what they say and all the quotes I said."

Rowland currently costars alongside James Brolin in Pensacola: Wings of Gold, a syndicated action series. "It's ludicrous. They just invent it. We're not getting married. She's still married," Rowland tells Daily Dish, referring to Anderson's split with hubby Clyde Klotz.

"She's going through her own battle. They've long been separated. We're just having a good time together right now."

Rowland, whose first regular prime-time gig, Space: Above and Beyond, was cancelled after only one season, finds himself in the air quite a bit as fighter pilot Bobby Griffin on his new show. But it turns out the California native would rather navigate the pounding surf, which is why you'll never hear him complain about Pensacola's shooting location, San Diego.

"It's perfect for surfing," gushes Rowland, who once won a water polo scholarship. Speaking of location, how does the idea of The X-Files moving from Vancouver to Los Angeles strike him, since sweetheart Anderson would be closer?

"Vancouver's beautiful, but it can be pretty difficult with the tone of the show, the subject matter and how hard they work. You want to have some home near you after a while, and I understand that. I did an episode of The X-Files, and it kicked my ass."
